Jing and snagit- Free and $29.95Jing is a free screen casting download from Techsmith. It has serious limitations with its funky file format (.swf) and its 5 minute time limit.
SnagIt is the paid version from Techsmith and is well worth the one time fee. Teachers get it for $29.95. It allows you to record your voice while videoing your computer screen. Add pictures and documents to your presentation for what words cannot explain. |

With the free version, you are able to record for 15 minutes, publish to youtube, and save the video file. For $15 per year, you can upgrade to the pro version to have longer record times and more range of freedom with this web based program.

This option comes free with any Mac computers. QuickTime Player allows you to record your screen, self, and voice. This is very useful and simple for teachers to quickly get their hands on a screencast program in a hurry.
